Empowering therapy for all ages in a confidential, nurturing and safe environment.

Hi, I’m Ben Groome, a qualified psychotherapist and a fellow human being who knows exactly what it is like to sit in the ‘client’s chair’. I have been where you are, feeling the weight of the dark clouds and wondering if the light will ever break through. Because I have navigated my own journey through therapy, I bring a deep, personal empathy to every session.
I am primarily online, providing flexible support from the comfort of your own space, but I am excited to share that I will be transitioning to a physical office space soon for those who prefer in-person connection!
Trust is the foundation of our work. I am a registered member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Being dual-registered means your therapy is safe, ethical, and duty-bound to statutory law, alongside the BACP and NCPS ethical framework. I work strictly within their professional parameters and attend regular clinical supervision, ensuring that while our work is deeply compassionate, individualistic and empirically support, it adheres strongly to the highest professional standards.
I believe therapy should always be a client-oriented environment, meaning you have full control over what is explored in your session. I often tell current and past clients to imagine our sessions like driving a car.
In this journey, you are the driver. You choose the destination and you have your foot on the pedals. As your therapist, I serve as the satnav (or GPS for international clients!), providing gentle, safe, and objective guidance to help you find the best route. I might point out a turning you had not have seen or help you navigate a difficult roadblock, but you are always the one in control of the journey. This is the same in therapy.
We explore any concerns, queries, worries, experiences (good or bad) and challenges at your own pace, meaning we can unearth anything at service level or extensively. It is entirely your choice!
I believe that mental health support should be a collaborative effort. I am proud to provide outreach and support to schools, the NHS, insurance providers, and various charity provisions.
This collaborative approach ensures that the young people and adults I work with feel comfortable, supported, and held by a wider network of care. Whether you are a professional looking to refer or a parent navigating these systems, I am here to bridge the gap and provide meaningful and effective counselling and therapy.
I provide gender-affirming and inclusive care, with particular interests in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, multicultural and cross-cultural experiences (grounded in cultural humility), trauma-informed practice, and bereavement support, including pet bereavement.
I am fully covered by Professional Civil Liability Insurance and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, enabling me to work safely and ethically with children, young people, and adults. Whether you are a parent seeking support for your child or an adult looking for your own therapeutic breakthrough, you are in safe, experienced, and professionally accountable hands.
I do not believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I mix and match different tools in order to create a personalised recipe for your self-discovery:
Taking this step is a powerful act of courage. If you feel like you are struggling to find your way through the clouds, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Additionally, if you feel like you just want to speak to someone about what is on your mind with a bit of wisdom and humour, please do contact me.
Remember, therapy does not always have to doom and gloom, like those dark, stormy clouds!
Whether you need a short-term ‘map’ to get through a crisis or long-term support to experience the version of yourself that you’re happier with, I am here to help.
Please contact me at ben@bwgtherapy.co.uk to book an initial chat. Let’s work together to find the rainbows waiting on the other side of the storm.
Founder of BWG Therapy/ BACP & NCPS Registered
I am an integrative psychotherapist offering a calm, confidential, and supportive space for children, young people, and adults. I work in a trauma-informed, ethically grounded way, recognising that each person's experiences, identity, and needs are unique.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, grief, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, relationship difficulties, or a sense of feeling stuck, therapy can offer a place to slow down, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you are experiencing; at your own pace.
I am a newly qualified psychotherapist with a strong foundation of clinical training and supervised practice. My experience includes working with individuals presenting with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, loss, identity exploration, and relational challenges.
Alongside my private practice, I have gained valuable experience through:
These roles have strengthened my ability to work compassionately, ethically, and collaboratively with clients from diverse backgrounds, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and reflective practice.
While I am early in my post-qualification career, I approach my work with humility, care, and a strong commitment to learning, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
I provide integrative/eclectic therapy , meaning I draw on more than one therapeutic approach to support you in the most helpful and appropriate way for your needs.
This may include but not limited to:
Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, sessions are shaped around your individual pace, background, goals, and preferences. You are the expert of your own life; my role is to walk alongside you, offering support, curiosity, and professional guidance.
My work is trauma-informed and LGBT+ affirmative, grounded in empathy, non-judgment, and respect.
My therapeutic work is underpinned by academic study, professional training, and supervised clinical practice.
I hold a First Class Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Applied Psychology from the University of Chester in, which provided a strong foundation in psychological theory, research, and human development.
I also completed professional training in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Wolverhampton, achieving a Distinction (2025). This training emphasised ethical practice, relational depth, reflective work, and the integration of multiple therapeutic approaches to meet individual client needs.
I am registered with both BACP and NCPS, and I work in accordance with their ethical frameworks and professional standards.
I am committed to ongoing Continued Professional Development (CPD), regular clinical supervision, and reflective practice, ensuring that my work remains informed, ethical, and responsive to evolving best practice.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, and you do not need to have everything worked out before beginning. Whether you are seeking short-term support or longer-term therapeutic work, you will be met with care, openness, and respect.
If you are considering therapy and would like to ask questions or explore whether working together feels right for you, you are welcome to get in touch via email : ben@bwgtherapy.co.uk.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24-48 hours.

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation of what you are experiencing to begin. Therapy can be a space to explore thoughts, feelings, and challenges in a supportive and non-judgmental way.

Therapy offers a space to explore these experiences at your own pace, within a compassionate, trauma-informed, and affirming therapeutic relationship.
If you are unsure whether therapy is right for you or your child, you are very welcome to get in touch to discuss your needs and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
Please reach us at ben@bwgtherapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Therapy is a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with a trained professional. It helps you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and work towards meaningful change. Together, we’ll tailor the sessions to your goals and pace.
BWG Therapy practices integrative psychotherapy, meaning we draw on multiple approaches to best suit your needs. This may include cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, psychodynamic approaches, or trauma-informed work, depending on what is most effective for you.
Every client’s journey is unique. Some people find short-term work (6–12 sessions) helpful for specific challenges, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll discuss a plan that fits your needs during your first session.
Your first session is an opportunity to talk about why you’re seeking therapy, discuss your goals, and explore your history. It’s also your chance to ask questions and get a sense of how therapy will work for you.
Most clients meet weekly or fortnightly, but we can adjust the schedule to suit your lifestyle. Regular sessions help create consistency and momentum in our work together.
Everything you share in sessions is strictly confidential, in line with BACP and NCPS ethical standards. Exceptions only occur if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. We’ll explain this fully during your first session.
Therapy is helpful for anyone experiencing emotional, psychological, or relational difficulties, or for those seeking personal growth. Early sessions are a good time to check whether the approach and relationship feel safe, supportive, and effective for you.
All prospective clients are offered a free 30-minute consultation to explore any worries or concerns they may be experiencing. This initial session provides an opportunity to consider whether therapy is suitable and whether we are able to work together effectively.
Following the consultation, ongoing therapy sessions are charged at £30 per session, in order to keep therapy affordable and accessible. Payment is usually made before or at the start of each session and can be made via bank transfer, card, or cash (for in-person sessions).
Please provide at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. This helps me offer the slot to someone else and maintain continuity in your therapy.
I offer flexible appointment times, and where availability allows, therapy can begin shortly after the initial consultation.
This space shares reflections, guidance, and practical ideas to support emotional wellbeing. The content is designed to be accessible and supportive, offering reassurance, psychoeducation, and tools you can explore in your own time.
Some posts may be particularly helpful for children, young people, parents, or carers, while others are written more broadly.
If there is a topic you would like me to cover, you are very welcome to get in touch with suggestions.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
